9 Days in Morocco: 18 April-26 April 2025

The desert is calling!

If you’re on travel pages as often as we are, you’ve certainly seen those out of this world pictures and videos featuring glorious kasbahs, red canyons, breathtaking sunsets over sandy dunes, luxurious clamping tents and camel riding straight out of Lawrence D’Arabia…

This voyage covers it all and much much more, a remote and unique experience not found in any other Moroccan region.

We planned a 9 days tour starting from Marrakech making our way to the Atlas Mountains, Dades Valley, Gorges de Toudra, Erg Chigaga Dunes and Ait Ben Haddou travelling back in time with each passing kilometre into a region, where it is possible to believe time has stood still.

9 Days/8 Nights Women Private Group Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech and Airport Transfer

Collection from the airport, transfer to the riad and welcome dinner to meet with the rest of the girls.

Day 2: Marrakech

A day fully dedicated to exploring the Red City. Our guide will take us on a tour to Madrasa Ben Youssef, the opulent Dar El Bacha Museum and El Bacha Coffee House.

Lunch within the Medina (old city) and the rest of the day exploring the traditional Moroccan souks.

Included: Overnight stay at the riad and breakfast.

Day 3: Marrakech and its diverse surroundings

Today will be spent in Marrakech’s true jewels: Ourika surrounded by greenery and a gentle creek and Agafay, the desert less than one hour away from Marrakech.

After lunch in Ourika, we’ll head to Agafay for optional quad and buggy adventures before we all gather together to watch the sunset and some traditional singing and dancing.

Included: overnight stay in the riad, breakfast and dinner at the desert.

Day 4: High Atlas Mountains Road Trip and the roses’ valley

Our journey towards the Sahara Desert via the Atlas Mountains can finally begin. On route we stop to take some pictures at the main viewpoints before stopping in Kalaat M’Gouna, home to the annual 3 days rose’s festival (dates are decided every year 4 weeks prior the festival and is usually late April-mid May, fingers crossed we’re lucky!), for a visit to a women led Co-Operative. Anyone else addicted to organic skincare and rose oil? You’ll love it here!

Included: Overnight stay, breakfast and dinner

Day 5: From the canyons to the desert’s door: Zagora

After breakfast we head towards Tinghir and the Todra Gorges: an oasis carved in limestone by the river Todra creating impressive and majestic canyons.

After lunch, we get even closer to the desert by making our way to Zagora crossing typical and authentic villages like Alnif and Taghbalte.

Included: Overnight hotel accommodation breakfast and dinner.

Day 6: Zagora to a once in a lifetime experience: Erg Chigaga desert

The day will start with a painting class, we’re sure that you’ll find inspiration in the wonderful views from the journey so far.

In the afternoon we finally make our way to the desert. Unlike most tours which make of the touristy Merzouga their destination, as a boutique experience we opted for the less travelled by Erg Chigag desert. We will leave our van behind to get on 4x4 vehicles to reach the desert camp. After a camel ride during the golden hour (do yourself a favour and don’t miss sunrise either!), we will gather for dinner and some music around the fire.

Oh, if you think you’ve seen a starry night before, you’ll reconsider it once you’ve experienced the blanket of stars in the desert’s sky.

Included: overnight glamping desert camp accommodation, breakfast, and dinner

Day 7: Au revoir to the desert and bonjour Ouarzazate

After breakfast we head to Ouarzazate making sure to stop to admire more oasis, namely the oasis of Agdz where we will have lunch while admiring the lush palm trees from a terrace.

Ouarzazate is the cinema capital of Morocco with shows like Gladiator, Game of Thrones and Lawrence of Arabia set in its beautiful surroundings. Who knows, they might be hunting for a new star! ; )

Included: overnight stay in a hotel, breakfast and dinner

Day 8: Ourzazate to Marrakech but first: Ait Benhaddou

After breakfast, we explore Ait Benhaddou: a well preserved ancient kasbah, and of course we will have some mint tea on a rooftop for that Instagram shot!

Arrival to Marrakech late in the afternoon and farewell dinner

Included: over night in a riad and breakfast

Day 9 : Transfer to the airport and nostalgia already

And here you are, you now are one more incredible story richer, how does it feel?

Until the next one, friend!
